Fighting to the bitter end, both boys and girls basketball teams came up short in round two of the 3A regional basketball championship.

The girls fell in their rematch against Redington, their second loss in the tournament. The boys suffered their first tournament loss against ACS in the semi-finals and will battle for a third place finish.

At the end of day two, players received individual awards for performance throughout the season. Awards were given for sportsmanship, second team all-region and first team all-region.

Eight Seahawks were called down to be honored at the ceremony.

Sophomore Anavey Ambrosiani and Senior Josh Jarvis receives awards for sportsmanship. Senior Riley von Borstel and Sophomores Sam Koster and Max Pfeiffenberger were named to the second All-Region Teams. Senior Ashley Jackson and Junior Connor Spanos were named to the first All-Region Teams.

Head Coach Al Plan was named Coach of the Year

“I have an amazing coaching staff,” Plan Said “any accolade is appreciated, but it’s hats off to the kids and assistant coaches for helping me so we could be where we wanted to be.”

The boys will play Kenai for the third time this season in a struggle for the bronze metal.
