Finished with high school and ready for college, Seward High School graduate, Ashley Jackson, will travel to Washington to continue her volleyball career.
Receiving regional honors in both volleyball and basketball, Jackson had several options to pick from in her search for a new team and school. But at the end of the day, Jackson chose Olympic College in Bremerton, Wash.
Seward High School Volleyball Coach Jodi Kurtz recognized Jackson’s talent and drive early.
“Ashley has a natural athletic talent, and I believe volleyball came easy to her.” Kurtz said. “I had no doubt from the beginning of her high school year that she was going to make it to the next level of volleyball.”
Kurtz and Jackson, along with her parents Eric and Shelly, met with high school principal Trevan Walker and Athletic Director Al Plan before the graduation ceremony to sign Jackson’s letter of intent.
While Jackson’s athletic talents will be missed, Kurtz said, it’s her leadership off the court that will be hard to replace.
“Her attitude has always been positive, happy and energetic,” Kurtz said. “I will miss seeing her dive to get every ball, her hard work, and encouragement that she gave other players.
“I wish her the best.”
