Governor Bill Walker addressed a full room at the Breeze Inn for Friday's Chamber of Commerce lunch. Walker is in town for the first day of the two-day SMIC Re-Launch and will attend a public reception at the Alaska Railroad Terminal at 7 p.m. on Friday. Walker covered a lot of ground during his remarks, focusing on his administration's efforts to expand economic opportunity in the state, including his trade overtures to China and his proposal to fund government services with earnings from the Permanent Fund. "We're making the turn," Walker said of the state financial situation. "It's taking longer than I would have liked it to take, but we're going to make it this year."
