The Seward PTA would like to offer thanks to those who made it possible to host the Missoula Children's Theatre in January. In under one week, we were able to involve approximately 325 Seward students in professional level Theatre Arts education, with help from touring actor/directors Ryan Pierce and Melissa Trentacoste. We facilitated 4 workshops at the Middle and High Schools, a school-wide assembly at the Elementary School, and auditions, rehearsals, and 2 full-scale musical performances of “The Pied Piper.”
These programs were made possible with grants from the Seward Arts Council and the Seward Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation. Special thanks go to:
- Karen Chase, who donated her time and musical gifts to be piano accompanist for the week,
- Terry and Rebecca Federer of Alaska Alpine Meadow Retreat, who generously donated lodging for the directors,
- Allen King of One Shot Photography, who filmed the performance of "The Pied Piper,"
- The families of the young actors who participated in the production. It took a lot of time and energy and none of this would have happened without your support!
Thank you to you all! It was a busy and productive week and we look forward to more opportunities like this in the future!
