The Seward Police Department announced today that it has forwarded its findings in the investigation into the murder of Preston Atwood to the district attorney’s office for review. Sgt. Karl Schaefermeyer told the Seward Journal that the department would continue to work on the case with prosecutors.
Atwood, 21, was murdered on Aug. 25. His body was found five days later on Aug. 30. Police have not said where his body was found.
In the two months that have passed, some observers on social media have become increasingly frustrated with what they felt was an unreasonable delay in bringing charges. The Seward Journal this week published two letters expressing such frustration, one from a family friend, the other from one of Atwood’s aunts.
