Seward Police Patch

A Seward man has been arrested on felony charges after climbing the Lowell Point Road landslide while blasting efforts were underway. At approximately 1:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon, it was reported that David Wilson of Seward had climbed the southern slope of the landslide and proceeded to disrupt the work of Advanced Blasting crews while refusing to leave.

“Somehow he thought that it was okay to do,” said Seward Police Chief Alan Nickell. “He went through the roadblock on the south side, and because — according to him anyway — he didn’t see anything that said he couldn’t climb up and over, he just thought he would.”

Wilson was remanded to Seward City Jail on Class A Felony charges of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree. The city advises all residents and visitors to avoid the area while blasting efforts to clear the Lowell Point Road landslide are underway.
