Blasting will begin on July 6 along the Seward Highway between mile 17 and 22.5, following the extended July 4 holiday weekend. Blasting may then be expected to continue along this stretch of the highway on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The road will not be closed for the duration of this span, however, according to Quality Alaska Paving (QAP). QAP representatives have stated that they will work quickly to reopen traffic, but due to the unknown nature of the blasting work, the crews may require the full duration.

“It is our goal to complete the construction on this section of highway with as minimal impact as possible,” read a QAP press release.
