Public Safety Report
The Public Safety Report is compiled from numerous sources, both official and unofficial, including police, fire, and EMS dispatches, press releases, official reports, court documents, interviews, and other sources.
In the case of criminal charges, individuals arrested or charged are presumed innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
Traffic Concerns and Citations
Multiple callers reported a vehicle driving erratically heading southbound on the Seward Highway into town on June 5 at 12:25 a.m. An officer followed the driver to their residence and observed no erratic driving.
A citation was issued to Elizabeth Ahkivgak at Third Avenue and D Street for speed and driving with license revoked in June 5 at 9:19 a.m.
A citation was issued to Patrick Radner at Seward Highway and North Harbor Drive for improper display of plates on June 5 at 12:42 p.m.
Michael Velozo was arrested at Lowell Point Rd. for DUI on June 6 at 4:10 a.m. A citation was issued for driving while license revoked.
A citation was issued to Luke Creasman at Third Avenue and Madison Street for speed on June 6 at 11:06 p.m.
A caller advised of an open manhole near Fourt Avenue and Adams Street on June 7 at 4 p.m. On-call water/wastewater person was advised.
A citation was issued to Richard Bindrup near Third Avenue and D Street for speed on June 8 at 11:21 a.m.
A citation issued to Robert Sundberg for defective headlights at Seward Highway and Sea Lion Drive on June 9 at 12:59 a.m.
A caller advised that two people were operating a 4 wheeler on Dieckgraeff Road on June 9 at 3:24 p.m. that she believed to be too young to legally operate a vehicle. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
A citation was issued to Kathleen Sorensen near Third Avenue and Church Street for parking in front of a fire hydrant on June 9 at 3:48 p.m.
A caller requested officer assistance at the Breeze Inn Lounge reporting an unruly patron on June 9 at 8:39 p.m. Officers contacted the patron outside the Lounge and advised them of a three-month trespass from the establishment. Officers also issued a disorderly conduct warning.
A caller provided a REDDI report on a driver who had opened and consumed a bottle of alcohol outside their vehicle and then drove away from the area of Safeway on June 9 at 8:52 pm. Officers were unable to locate the reported vehicle.
A caller reported a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed near Exit Glacier heading towards the Seward Highway on June 10 at 9:53 p.m. Caller was transferred to AST dispatch and officers were notified.
A citation was issued to Jessica Straub at Third Avenue and D Street for failure to carry proof of insurance on June 10 at 11:04 p.m. Verbal warnings were also issued for speed and expired registration.
An officer observed a suspicious vehicle near the Airport on June 11 at 1 a.m.. All was found to be well.
An officer issued a citation to Huntere Hudgins at Seward and Hemlock for speeding on June 11 at 1:11 a.m.
Parking violations and warning were placed on nine vehicles in the harbor area on June 11.
Misdials were received on emergency lines on June 11 at 6:52, 8:00, 8:08, and 8:46 a.m.
Lost and Found
A lost purse reported on June 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Desiree Nosik was arrested at Harborview Campground for domestic violence assault IV on June 5 at 1:23 a.m. Nosik was remanded to SCJ.
Darian Draper was arrested on Jesse Lee Drive for Reckless Endangerment and Domestic Violence and remanded to the Seward City Jail on June 5 at 7:59 p.m. Draper was also issued a citation for Child Endangerment in the 2nd degree.
Eric Wassillie was arrested at Pacific Park Apartments on June 6 at 4:31 p.m. for violating conditions of release.
An officer investigated a noise complaint at the park on Ballaine on June 7 at 11:31 p.m. The individual agreed to keep the noise down.
Gerald Harrington was arrested on a warrant at the SeaLife Center on June 8 at 12:07 p.m.
A caller reported on June 8 at 8:18 p.m. that they had been involved in a domestic incident with their partner. Officer interviewed both parties involved, who agreed to separate for the night.
A caller reported it appeared as though a vehicle had been broken into outside of Apollo Restaurant on June 9 at 9:17 p.m. An officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle and stated that the suspect was a friend and had permission to access the vehicle.
A caller requested officer assistance removing and trespassing an intoxicated individual from their residence on June 9 at 9:51 p.m. Officers assisted in removing the individual, and subsequently transported them to the hospital due to their intoxication level.
A caller reported a large party bus had parked near Iditarod Campground playing loud music and was concerned about potential underage drinking on June 9 at 10:46 p.m. Officers confirmed all partygoers were of age, and the bus was vacating the area.
A caller reported a domestic disturbance in a neighboring apartment on June 10 at 1:20 a.m. Officers contacted the tenants and observed no sign of a disturbance and all appeared well. Disorderly conduct warnings were issued to both parties.
A caller reported a large group of juveniles partaking in suspicious activity on First Avenue and Madison Street on June 10 at 9:13 p.m. An officer contacted the juveniles and confirmed no criminal activity was taking place.
On June 11 at 12:48 p.m. a lost purse was reported. At 1:13 p.m. a caller reported finding their stolen purse in the possession of another individual. An officer responded to scene and determined ownership.
On June 11 at 2:32 p.m. an officer took report of a missing weapon.
