Charging documents were filled on Dec. 8, 2019, for Shane John Hillison DOB Nov. 8, 1976, for DUI on Dec. 7, 2019. Court appearance scheduled for Jan. 7, 2020.
Seward Court Verdicts
State vs. Jeffrey Edward Cobble: Dec. 12, 2019. Three charges of Assault Four - Cause Fear of Injury (two dismissed); Miscellaneous Conduct Involving a Weapon Four - Possession While Intoxicated; Violation of Conditions of Release (dismissed). Conviction after guilty plea; $100 Suspended Jail Surcharge. $5,500 Suspended fine, $100 police surcharge, $50 jail surcharge. Court will order defendant to pay the suspended $100 surcharge if probation is revoked and, in connection with the revocation, defendant is arrested and taken to a correctional facility or jail time is ordered served. Petition for Domestic Violence Protective Order: Long-Term, motion to continue entered on Nov. 12, 2019. Previously conviction Aug. 8, 2018, for Assault Four - Cause Fear of Injury, $5,000 fine suspended, court fees paid.
Traffic Concerns and Citations
Someone advised on Dec. 17 at 4:43 p.m. that someone had backed into her vehicle at the high school parking lot.
Parking warnings were left on five vehicles in the downtown area on Dec. 18 between 2:01 and 2:07 a.m. for parking in violation of snow removal restrictions.
A verbal warning was given to a driver for failure to stop at a stop sign at Seward Highway and Dairy Hill Lane on Dec. 18 at 7:03 a.m.
An officer responded to a report of a minor consuming alcohol at the AVTEC dorms on Dec. 18 at 9:47 p.m. Brandon Miresse was issued a citation for minor consuming.
A report was received of a possible intoxicated driver leaving the Pit Bar on Dec. 20 at 12:42 a.m. and possibly heading into town. An officer patrolled the Seward Highway and found no vehicle matching the one reported.
A caller advised on Dec. 20 at 4:33 p.m. of a red Subaru that looked to be abandoned in the alley of Marathon and Phoenix. Officer made contact with car owner and verified all was okay.
A verbal warning was given to a driver for failure to dim bright headlights at Seward Highway and Coolidge Drive on Dec. 21 at 12:34 a.m.
A verbal warning was given to a driver at Sea Lion Ave and Seward Highway for speeding on Dec. 22 at 1:43 p.m.
A verbal warning was given to a driver in the Safeway parking lot on Dec. 22 at 6:15 p.m. for driving with inoperable taillights and headlights.
A verbal warning was given to a driver near Aspen Lane and Seward Highway for driving without headlights after dark on Dec. 22 at 6:22 p.m.
A verbal warning was given to a driver at Third Avenue and C Street for speed on Dec. 22 at 7:59 p.m.
A 911 misdial occurred at Birch St and Alder St. on Dec. 22 at 1:50 p.m. No sounds of disturbance were heard and all was okay.
A caller reported on Dec. 18 at 12:51 a.m. that there was a male climbing one of the light poles in the downtown area. An officer patrolled the area and found no one messing with light poles.
A caller reported on Dec. 18 at 4:27 p.m. that there was a suspicion of someone trespassing in the Clearview neighborhood. An officer took a report.
An officer assisted a citizen at the Breeze Inn on Dec. 19 at 12:02 a.m. and transported them to the hospital.
An officer responded to assist the Hotel 360 staff in handling a dispute with a tenant staying there on Dec. 22 at 4:59 a.m. The manager was able to help resolve the issue with no charges being filed.
An officer assisted a trooper at a residence at Nash Road on Dec. 22 at 5:32 a.m.
A caller advised on Dec. 22 at 11:02 a.m. of a threat that was made to her at The Cup. An officer spoke with the individual.
On Dec. 23 at 12:22 a.m. a caller reported a suspicious situation involving her daughter. An officer took report.
On Dec. 23 at 1:42 a.m. a caller reported hearing gun shots in the alley behind Bear Drive. An officer was unable to locate anyone in the area.
In addition to routine patrols, between Dec. 17 and Dec. 23, the Seward Police Department recorded 183 physical security checks of local businesses and other locations in Seward.
