A man was found dead after firefighters put down a blaze on board the sailboat Perspective on Saturday morning, said Seward Fire Chief Eddie Athey.
The boat is moored in a slip on the Seward harbor’s B float.
The Seward Fire Department responded to the fire at 11:24 a.m., according to Seward dispatch. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Seward police, EMS and harbor personnel were also on the scene as of 12:30 p.m.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim, but said that the individual was male.
Seward police and fire officials are continuing their investigation into the fire.
This is the second fire aboard a vessel in the Seward boat harbor this winter. No one was injured the previous fire.
