Longtime Alaskan and Sterling resident, Norman P. “Frenchie” Malotte, 79, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, at Central Peninsula Hospital.
An informal memorial service was held on Jan. 5 at Magpye’s Pizzeria in Sterling.
Frenchie was born Aug. 17, 1943, in Tooele, Utah, to Guy and Veda (Mollet) Malotte. His parents moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he spent his school days. In 1961, the family moved to the Rogue Valley in Oregon. In 1974. he moved to Anchorage and started working with Bureau of Land Management.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmachining. Over the years, many wonderful friendships developed, so he was never without someone to enjoy these activities with.
Frenchie was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Faye; brothers, Robert, Wayne, and Allen; and his daughter, Kristine.
He is survived by his children Michael and Kathy and their mother Wanda; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Kathryn, mother of Kristine; and multiple nieces and nephews.
