Herman Nelsen, 85, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2020, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Kanakanak, Alaska to Charles and Nattie Nelsen on Feb. 26, 1934, he was the youngest of five children.
After living a majority of his childhood in Kodiak and Seldovia, Herman moved to Seward where he married his wife Sandra and raised their three sons. Herman was a veteran of the US Army and a lifelong commercial fisherman. He fished the waters off Alaska, from the Bering Sea to Southeast Alaska. Herman was loved by his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the Seward community.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2 p.m. at the Seward Mountain Haven Fireweed Lodge.
