Longtime Ninilchik and Seward resident Daniel E. Hamilton, 54, passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2022, at his home in Seward.
A celebration of his life will be at a later date to be determined.
Dan was born Jan. 10, 1968, in Eau Claire, Wisconson. He moved to Alaska with his family in 1970 and he lived in Talkeetna, Ninilchik and Seward. He furthered his education and received his Bachelor of Psychology. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S. Army, retiring in 2017. He then worked as a cook for the Department of Corrections in Seward until his passing.
He loved working on computers.
His family wrote, “Daniel spent 15 years in Iraq and Afghanistan stepping around IEDs and working on computers. He came home to his loving family with his bad dad jokes. He loved a discussion of anything, be it religion or politics. His favorite computer program was “D & D”. He was also a great cook, coming up with some strange recipes and loved working with his grandsons in the kitchen.”
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Hamilton; daughter, ETosha Eckman; mother-in-law, Rosa Behn; and father-in-law, Richard Willhite.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Wanda, of Ninilchik; daughter, Tatianna (Noaha) Nicanor and Shyanna Willhite all of Hopkins, Kentucky.; his parents, William and Becky Hamilton of Ninilchik; grandsons, John Eckman of Colorado, Robyn and Dustin Hamilton, both of Ninilchik; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Hamilton and Luara Sandison of Ninilchik; father-in-law, Curtis Behn of Willow; sisters-in-law, Vansia Brown of Sedro Wooly, Washingon. and Anita (Raymond) Dalton of Concord, North Carolina; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Donations may be made in his honor to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Autism Society.
