Longtime resident Carol Edna Atwood passed away quietly on Nov. 8, 2018, with her son and daughter-in-law at her bedside at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
Carol was born in Seward, Alaska, on February 11, 1944 to Ralph and Ruth Andrews. She grew up in Seward and spent most of her life here. Upon completing the culinary program at the Alaska Vocational Technical Center, she went on to a 27-year career at the Wesleyan Nursing Home.
Carol was adept at various crafts, from painting and ceramics to beading work, but she most enjoyed the company of her various pets. Over the years she raised numerous cats, doves, a horse, and many a stray dog.
She is survived by her son, Dwayne and his wife (Kari); brother, Jon Andrews; sister, Andrea Benitz; grandchildren Audra Atwood and Preston Atwood; great granddaughter, Kylie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seward Animal Shelter or the Seward Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
